THE BITBURG FOOD BANK NEEDS YOUR HELP
We met Erika Garcon and the team of the Bitburg Food Bank (Bitburger Tafel) in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID crisis. At the time, they needed help on distribution days and we joined the team. We had a chance to see up close, how their valuable work makes a lasting, positive impact on so many lives of people in need in the Bitburg region.
Shelf-stable foods are always at short supply, Erika Garcon told us. So we started our project: the "Reverse Advent Calendar".
We call it "reverse", because you give instead of getting something: one item of shelf-stable food for each day of advent.

HOW TO PACK YOUR BOX
YOU NEED A CARDBOARD BOX OR PAPER BAGS
The boxes they sell at the register of German supermarkets are a great size. But of course, you can use any other clean cardboard box or paper bags.
PACK 24 SHELF-STABLE FOODS
We added a sample packing list below. But you can also use foods of your own choice. It is important that the foods are shelf-stable, which means that they can be stored at room temperature over a long period of time. Please do not wrap in gift paper. A card with some words of encouragement would be great, but is optional.
TAKE YOUR BOX TO ONE OF THE DROP-OFF LOCATIONS BY DEC 14 AT THE LATEST
There are 4 drop-off locations - in Bitburg, Neuerburg, Spangdahlem und Speicher. We have added locations and hours below.

Please drop off your packages until Dec 14 at the latest to insure that the Bitburg Food bank can hand the items out on the last distribution day before christmas.
